What are atoms and elements?
Atom is a small chemical particle. Element is is a chemical substance that cannot be broken down into other substances.
properties of a matallic element?
Lusturous (shiny), conducted heat and electricty, high melting point, high density, usually a solid at room tempreture, malleable.
properties of a non-metallic element?
Dull, poor conducters of heat and energy, low melting point, often liquids or gases and room tempreture, brittle
Define compounds and mixtures?
A compund is made up of 2 or more elements chemically combined and they can be seperated. A mixture is a substance made by combining two or more different materials in such a way that no chemical reaction occurs. Can usually be seperated
Define density
the measurement of how tightly a material is packed together.
