Symbolism which is more abstract and representational of the world, period, and themes. Objects and items could be exaggerated, tilted, or positioned.
Realism, which can be total or partial, by looking into detail at the scene setting and how it ought to be replicated.
Minimalism which uses 'minimal signification' whereby only certain props are used, not incorportaing the whole set at all.
SHAPE- pathways, floor shape, change to playing area, cohesive or separated furniture? platform, levels.
COLOUR- reflecting mood, atmosphere, sources of light, reality, themes, sub-text?
SCALE- the difference in sizes, disjointed or comforting?
TEXTURE
SET CHANGES
1)Decide on what style and write that down first
2)What stage style/positioning (ie thrust, proscenium)
3)Write in 'audience' where they would be positioned
4)Raised or floor stage
5)Start drawing set
6)Place in stick figures with their names.
7)Begin to label with textures, colours and materials
8)Afterward label the entrances and exits that the actors have.
9)Finally label how you are going to change this in the other scene.
You have to state the style (realism, minimalism, symbolism) and the justification for it backed up with research and context.
