Residual Power
A favour granted by a government in return for political support.
Patronage
A group of permanent employees who perform the tasks of the “business of government.”
Public Service
A private meeting of the members of the same political party. At the federal level, the caucus consists of party members who have been elected to parliament. The term comes from the Algonquin word for adviser.
Caucus
a group of people who have common beliefs, ideas, and plans about the best way to govern.
Political Party
Local governments responsible for services and infrastructure within their boundaries.
Municipalities
The legal process or set of rules that outlines how a constitution can be changed or amended.
Amending Formula
when the monarch formally approves a bill that has been passed by the House of Commons and the Senate.
