Introduction
What is a Tissue?
A tissue is a collection of similar cells that act together to perform a function.
What are the 4 main types of tissue?
Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, Nervous
What is Epithelial Tissue?
Tissue that covers and lines much of the body. EX) Skin, Mucus Membranes.
What is Connective Tissue?
Is found all over the body and primarily holds things together and provides structure. EX) Cartilage, Fat.
What is Muscle Tissue
Provides the means for movement by and within the body. Skeletal: voluntary attachef to the bones. Cardiac: Involuntary and found in the heart. Smooth: Involuntary and found in hollow organs.
What is Nervous Tissue
Transmits "messages" and is made of neurons and neuroglia.
Whats an Organ?
an organ is 2 or more types of tissues organized in a way that can do a task that the tissues can not do on their own.
What organs can we not live without?
Heart, Brain, Kidneys, Lungs.
What organs are not vital?
Spleens, Gallbladder, etc...
What is an Organ Body System?
It is gormed by organs and other structures that work together to accomplish something more complex than what a single organ can do.
Whats the difference between Involuntary and Voluntary?
Voluntary is a body part that you are in control of, Involuntary is a body part you can not control.
