osmosis is the diffusion of WATER through a semi permeable membrane from low concentration to high concentration.
diffusion is a solute (salt suger) moving from a high concentrate to a low concentrate
both of these transports are passive trnsport meaning they do not require energy or ATP
a broken down glucose molecule that are little packets of energy
isotonic means that the environment inside and outside of the cell are the same/similar and so water can flow in and out and the cell remains the SAME
hypertonic means that there is more solute than water and so causes the cell to shrink in size which is also called crenate
hypotonic means that there in more water than solute in the cell and so this pushes the cell outward which causes it to bulge, we call this pressure turger pressure
when you water a wilted plant it helps restore the pants tergidity which makes it perk up and stand up firmly.
tonicity is the ability for a sultion to change the volume of cell by altering the water content
because the soltuion must be a similar concentration to the blood so that your body does not reject it and lets it replace liquid and allow the fluid into cells
cell communication, holds cells together and cell recognition
chanel which lets the protein right through and carrier which envelops the protien then brings it through and releases it inside
potassium and sodium pump protein which exchanges sodiums for potassiums inside the cell
Pinocytosis
A cell takes in extracellular fluids and small molecules through a process known as "cell drinking". Pinocytosis is a continuous process in most cells.
Phagocytosis
A cell engulfs large particles, such as cell debris and microorganisms, through a process known as "cell eating"
hypotonic
Endocytosis is the process of taking in material by enclosing it in a vesicle. Exocytosis is the opposite process, where the vesicle fuses with the plasma membrane and expels its contents to the outside of the cell.
