What is voltage and current in a series circuit?
Voltage adds up to total
Vps = V1 + V2
Current same for all resistors
I1 = I2 = I3
What is voltage and current in a parallel circuit?
Voltage is same for all resistors
Vps = V1 = V2
Current adds up to total
I1 = I2 + I3
Kirchhoff’s first rule
Junction rule. Sum of currents entering a junction must equal the sum of currents leaving.
Kirchhoff’s second rule
Loop rule. Algebraic sum of changes in potential atound any closed circuit path (loop) must be zero.
