1. p's are given the role of teacher.
2. they have to test the learner on word pairs. if the learner get it worng they get an insteas.

3. the electric shock increases every time they get a pair incorrect.

5. when the learner doesn't want to continue with the experiment the expermenter givess prods.

procedure

1. the p's showed up and instroduced to the other p's who was actully a confederate.
2. the p's were told to draw lots to see who would be the teacher and learner this was rigged so the p's could always be the teacher.

3. the learner wass taken to a lab and strapped into an electric chair to prevent excessive movement.

4. the p's received a sample shock of 45v to demostrate authenticity of the shock generator.
