on july 31st South Vietnamese attacked North Vietnamese in the Gulf of Tonkin
on August 2nd America naval had moved into North Vietnamese waters, they were being followed, and attempted attacked by North vietnamese. ( US destoryed the 3 boats taht were following them)
this happened once more, and led to America joining the war
this is ironic cause a few days later the captian of the ship called in and said the secound "attack" had a freak weather accident which migthve had him and his men overeacting. This was ignored by the US gov.
