Detects and reacts to stimuli
It means that humans can react to their surroundings and coordinate their behaviour
-Central nervous system
-Receptors
-Sensory Neurones
-Effectors
-Motor Neurones
The brain and spinal cord
Sensory neurones and motor neurones
Receptors are the cells that detect stimulus
Receptors in the ears detect sound
They carry information as electrical impulses from the receptors to the central nervous system
Effectors respond to electrical impulses and bring out a change
Muscles and glands
Muscles contract
Glands release hormones
They carry electrical impulses from the central nervous system to the effectors
It recieves information from the receptors and then coordinates a response
-The receptors detect a stimulus.
-Sensory neurones carry the information from the receptors to the central nervous system.
-The central nervous system then coordinates a response.
-The central nervous system sends information to the effectors along the motor neurones.
-The effectors then respond.
