The process of moving to a new country

National Identity

a shared understanding of the key characteristics and behaviours that distinguish one nation from another nation

Dominant cultural ideals

the main values and beliefs and norms of a culture that shape their attitudes and behaviours

Minority group

this group has the least amount of people in society. It can also mean a group of people who live alongside another group from a different culture and can be subordinate to a dominant group

Colonisation

when one dominant group controls the power, decision-making and land of another group of people (colonisers). They can use force to take the land and may send people from the colonisers country to live in the colony

Assimilation

is the process where individuals or groups of different ethnicities and heritage are absorbed (taken in) by the dominant culture
