bonding structure and properties of matter

what is ionic bonding

"Ionic bonding is a chemical bonding process that involves the transfer of ions between a metal and a non-metal; the oppositely charged metal and non-metal ions will have an electrostatic attraction between them.

properties of ionci compounds

- high boiling and melting point
-conduct elecricity in liquid or molten , never in solid

- hard and brittle

why does ionnic compunds have high melting point and boiling point

becuase of their strong electrostatic bonds , it is much harder to break their bonds [ how they get tomelting and boiling point ] when tehy have high melting and boiling point

why does ionic compunds conduct in water but not as a solid

Conductivity : they conduct electricity in only when molten or dissolved in water , beacuse when they are solid thier ions cannot move around and conduct ellectricity

what is covalent bond[ 1 sentece]

shared pair of electron between two atoms

covalent bond occur between

2 non metals

covalent bonded sustance can be ___,____,___
