The strange situation is an experimental procedure in which a young child (usually aged 12-18 months old) is placed in a series of increasingly stressful situation and his or her emotional reactiions are observed.
Measures a child's attachmnet style
The child's emotional reactions and behaviors measured are: separation anxiety, strager anxiety, his desire to explore, and his behavior toward the parent upon his or her return
Insecurity attached children deliberately avoid contact with the parent when he or she returns after the separation
A securely attached child shows mild protest when his or her parent leaves. On the parent's return, the child seeks the parent and is relatively easily comforted
It's the first stage of Erickson theory and occurs between birth and one year of age and is the most fundamental stage in life. Infant is a hepless creature who can't survive outside the womb without help (food, love, diaper changes, holding and bonding, sleep). The risk is the failure to thrive because they are completety independent for all their needs. If the caregivers respond quickly, sensitively and timely the baby will solve positively in basis trust
take place during early childhood and is focus on children developing a greater sense of personal control. Toddlers work on potty training that is a big developmental skill, they think they can do all by themselves. They try to assert their autonomy. parent have to give them milion of opportunities to choose building up their own autonomy. If it does't happen they will be full of shames and Doubts
occurs during the preschool years, when children begin to assert their power and control over the word througt directing play and other social interaction. Children need to take initiative and try to asser their power but if they can't do it they will feel guilty
Covers the early school years from approximately age 5 to 11. Thought social interaction children begin to develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments and abilities. Children will be industry if they work in social skills, method and comptence in school subjects. If they thinks that they aren't able to do things they'll feel a sense of inferiority.
During adolescets children explore their indipendence and develop a sense of self. They work on who I am, they experiment, figure out who they are, what their career will be, they build their identity instead a role of confuion. Before this stage was around 20 years old but today is around 25 or 30 years old.
Cover the period of early adulthood when peolpe explore their personal relationship. Young adults form intimate relationships whit other peolpe or feel a sense of isolation
Occurs during adulthood, when people continue to build their lives, focusing on their carrer and family. In the middleage you want to be generative, create the future generations, and you ask to yourself "What can i leave to the world?". Hving kids and taking care of them, teaching are generative activities. If you don't create you'll feel down in stagnation
Occurs during old age and is focused on reflecting back of life. They ask to themselves: " How did I live a good life?" If the answer to yourself that you created something that has a sense you will have a sense of peace and ego-integrity, while if you don't you will fall into despair.
Early reflex activities are build up into more complex routines through repetitive reactions
Children in this stage use symbols but not adult logic. it's divided into Two parts: PRE-CONCEPTUAL STAGE, the children's use of concept is not fully formed yet, INTUITIVE STAGE, children in this stage display animism, egocentric behavior, and cannot conserve
When a person has the belief that erything that exists has some kind of consciousness. An exemple of this is that children often believe that a car won't start because it is tired or sick. A reason for this characteristic of the stage is that the pre-operational child often assumes that everyone and everything is like them. Therefore, since the child can feel pain and has emotions so must everything else.
(7-11) Children can use logical mental rules but only for concrete rather than abstract tasks. they can cope with conservation and using number to peform calculation. CONSERVATION is a conscius perception than tangible amounts do not vary whenever their appearances are modifield. Ex: the conservation of the liquids from one container to the next

In ts stage abstract and systematic thought is possible, as well as organized reduction and induction
