African American History: Colonial Slavery I

An enclosure or barrack for the confinement of enslaved or captured Africans , convicts , or prisoners . They were temporarily detained in Africa until the the Middle Passage to the New World. Etymologically speaking , this word originated from the Spanish ' barracon ' . Its augmentation form is ' barraca ' as derived from Catalan .
