Cell releases chemical signals that binds to the receptors of the same cell

Cell sends signals to nearby cells, short distance signal messaging.
Direct Contact
Uses gap junctions between cells where molecules pass through to nearby cells.
Autophagy
Breaking down of waste products to be recycled. Products are broken down in the lysosome and transported to the vacuole.
Contractions
Uses cytoskeleton fibres to move along cell to contract and move
Active Transport
Movement of substances from a low concentration to high concentration. Requires energy in the form of ATP.
