African American History: American Civil War Era II

For Owner's forfeiture of the claims to the slaves of labor on ground that these slaves engaged in hostile military services against the Union , he forfeited his rights to ownership of those slaves . First Confiscation Act of 1861

The critical and historical landmark in the chapter of the American Civil War Era. This site was the U.S. Union fortress within the vicinity of Charleston Harbor of South Carolina. It garrisoned a marginalized rank and file of Union Officers and Infantry soldiers of less than 100. Such Militia was vulnerable to the Confederate siege. CSA seized the Federal Arsenal and emasculated the resolve of the Federal government dominion over the fort. Lincoln executed his declarative edict to the CSA anent 2 factors : the Presidential protection of the federal government property and the Union preservation. Following the Confederacy's fusillade of cannon fire on 12 April 1861 , Lincoln responded by declaring the South in a state of Rebellion on 15 April 1861. An Anti-Slavery Orator & Abolitionist. He was a field hand slave , a hireling slave, and a trained caulker. He fled Slavery as a fugitive in 1838 .
