Explore the impact on the internet and online platforms such as youtube and media regulation? (15 marks)

- Self-regulation - content creators have to control the type of content they are releasing and making sure they fit under the youtube guidelines otherwise there are or will be consequences of getting banned from the platform as this content can be reached by millions from different demographics and certain groups have to be ‘protected’ from some certain content such as kids , An example being KSI who may have much more controversial and more extreme when he started to possibly gain clicks and traction at the start of his career but now you can see a shift in his character and personality where he is not as loud and as controversial to fit the community guidelines and to continue having this steady source of income and wouldn't want to lose this platform as he gained the following through this platform.
- They have to encourage their audience to report or flag certain videos that may need to be reviewed by professionals or someone on the youtube team as there is so much content that gets uploaded therefore it can be hard to keep on top of this therefore by encouraging audience to report videos youtube is then able to put the video higher on their priorities for review

- Anyone can access any sort of content very easily so it can cause problems

MR STEENSON

Van zoonen : Racial and gender stereotypes

Gender
Male are often seen as powerful and dominant which matches him as he's quite loud and open

Men think they are ‘superior’ to women which he sometimes conforms to by using explicit language towards women and demeaning them but not so much now

Dressed quite well usually reverting the ‘criminal’ representation that media has created upon black individuals and men

Racial

Black people are often seen in negative light by being perceived as criminals and mistreated which is subverted when it comes to him as he does a lot of food in society by donating to charities and going to make-a-wish events and more.

Sometimes conforms to racial stereotypes by creating videos called “what is it like to be black” and “if KFC closed down” for banter but some individuals may not appreciate this

Shows his heritage which is positive as it shows that he is proud of his culture but then does weird dance moves while wearing it which could be seen and negative and inappropriate

He also has tattoos, dreads and bandana which can often represent criminals or prisoners which can be seen as quite negative in society and media
