Public Service

A private meeting of the members of the same political party. At the federal level, the caucus consists of party members who have been elected to parliament. The term comes from the Algonquin word for adviser.

a group of people who have common beliefs, ideas, and plans about the best way to govern.

Local governments responsible for services and infrastructure within their boundaries.

Municipalities

The legal process or set of rules that outlines how a constitution can be changed or amended.

Amending Formula

when the monarch formally approves a bill that has been passed by the House of Commons and the Senate.

Dictatorship/Fascism
-One who rules with absolute power.

Communism

- Everyone is considered equal.

Totalitarianism

-Ruled by the state.

Socialism

-Believes that for the greatest good of the people, the resources and industries of a country should be controlled by the people or the government.

National Assembly

The name given to the provincial legislature, or parliament, in Quebec.

Senate

The upper house of parliament

Government

A ruling body that runs the affairs of a country, province, city, town or district.
