They treat the cause of the disease by killing the pathogen, but do but work of viruses as these replicate inside the cells and bacteria live outside of cells
How does antibiotic resistance occur?
Some bacteria in a population have the ability to survive treatment with an antibiotic. These will survive and reproduce passing on genes that allow them to survie to offspring
How can antibiotic resistance be reduced?
-Reduce prescriptions of antibiotics for viral infections
