A community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.
Biotic Factors
Living, organisms: animals, plants
Abiotic Factors
Non-living things which interact with biotic factors: water tempreture within a habitat, oxygen within water, salinity of water
Community
Group of organisms that interact within an ecosystem
Population
Group of organisms of one species in a particular location at a particular time.
Species
A group of organisms that are capable of producing fertile offspring.
Molecular (genetic) diversity
Genetic variation in number of gene types expressed by individuals within a population or species.
Species (population) Diversity
Number of individuals in a population and the number of species in a given ecosystem. Depends on abiotic factors within an ecosystem.
Ecosystem Diversity
Variety of biological community and their association with the ecosystem.
