The buliding blocks of proteins there are 20 standard amino acids

A functional group ( - NH2) consiting of nitrogen atom bonded to two hydrogen
Amphipathic
Refers to moleclues that have both hydroPhilic ( loves water) hydrophilic( dislikes water)
Biological molecules
A molecule that is found in living organisms and essential for life process ( Examples proteins , nucelic acids, DNA, carbohydrates )
Carbohydrate
organic compoud made of carbon, Hydrogen,und oxygen this is a primary energy source found in sugars, structures, and cellulose
Catalyst
A substance that up chemical reaction without being consumed or altered in the process

A complex carbohydrate and a structrual component in the cell wall of Plants made of glucose moleCules

A type of lipid found in the cell membranes of animals also acts as a precursor to steriod hormones
Dehydration
A chemica reaction in which a molecule loses water often to form a larger molecule
Denaturation
The process in Which a protein or nucleic acid loses its natural structure due to external factors like Heat, PH changes, chemicals.
Disaccharide
a carbohydrate made up of two monsoscharides link by a glycosidic bond
DNA
A moleclue that carries the genetic instructions for the developement, functioning, growth, and reproduction of all living things
Enzyme
A protein that acts like a catalyst speeding up chemical reactions in the body without being consumed
