program that translates a high-level language program into a separate machine language program. The machine language program can then be executed anytime it is needed.
Compiler
A program that both translate and executes the instructions in a high level language program. It converts it to a machine language instruction and then immediately executes it.
Interpreter
The words that make up a high-level programming language. Variables can't share the same name as these words.
Keywords
Perform various operations on data. Such as "plus" , "minus" , "greater than" , "less than" etc.
Operators
Set of rules that must be strictly followed when writing the program. Such as placing quotation marks around a statement for the computer to understand that it is a statement.

The individual instructions that you use to write a program in a high-level programming language.
