It is for the use of cabin crew to provide passengers and crew members with undiluted first aid oxygen during post decompression and as first aid management

When using the POB for an 8 year old passenger, it must be set on what level?

What necessary precautions should a cabin crew do before administering POB?

1. Remove make-up
2. Recline the seat

3. Loosen tight clothing

4. Open air vents (if applicable)

How should you administer an oxygen to an infant?

Oxygen must be slightly placed over nose and mouth to avoid suffocation due to inhalation of too much oxygen

What is the duration of a 310 liters POB?

LO outlet/2 liters - 155 minutes
HI outlet/4 liters- 77 minutes

What is the duration of a 120 liters POB?

LO outlet/2 liters - 60 minutes
HI outlet/4 liters - 30 minutes

How do you operate the Dual Type outlet POB?

1. Attach the mask to the applicable outlet
2. Turn the knob counterclockwise to ON

3. Check oxygen flow

4. Place mask over nose and mouth and secure

5. After use, remove mask

6. Turn knob to OFF

7. Disconnect the mask, clean and stow

8. Log in the CML

How do you operate the Single Type outlet POB?

1. Ensure mask is attached to the outlet
2. Turn knob counterclockwise to select the applicable oxygen flow. The red indicator should appear 2 for LO (infants 1-2 yo & children 2-12 yo) and 4 for HI

3. Check oxygen flow

4. Place mask over nose and mouth and secure

5. After use, remove the mask

6. Turn knob to OFF until the window shows completely RED

7. Disconnect the mask, clean and stow

8. Log in the CML

How do you pre-flight check your POB?

1. Availability/accessibility
2. Ensure that the pressure gauge is in the GREEN band (AVOX) and RED band (SCOTT)

3. Safety wire not tampered

4. Must have a corresponding mask

What is a PBE?

Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE)

A device used by cabin crew for protection of toxic gases, smoke, and loss of vision when fighting fire on board the aircraft

How do you pre-flight check the Scott/Avox type PBE?

1. Availability/Accessibility
2. Ensure seal is intact

3. No moist in PBE casing hole

How many minutes will the PBE operate?

Maximum of 15 minutes

What type of PBE is found in the A350-900 aircraft?

Air Liquide

How do your operate the Scott/Avox PBE?

1. Remove from storage case
2. Tear off red pull strip and remove from plastic protective wrapper

3. Pull the actuation ring in the direction indicated

4. Bend forward from the waist and pull hood across face over head. Check neck seal for secure fit and tuck long hair inside

5. Breathe normally. Remove hood when airflow stops to avoid suffocation

How do you operate your Air Liquide PBE?

1. Hold the case with one hand on the handle marked "LIFT" and with the other, pull sharply on the handle marked "PULL" to break the protective seal and open the cover
2. Take it out of the case and pull it towards you

3. Pull one of the tear-off strips and take out the hood

4. Holding with both hands, turn the hood downwards in one clean movement

5. Put your thumbs on the orange marks and open the black collar at the base of the hood

6. Pass the hood over your head starting from the back and breathe normally. The hood is now operational

Operation of Walter Kidde Halon Fire Extinguisher

P - pull the ring pin from lever and handle
A - aim the nozzle at the base of the fire approx. 6 feet away from fire source

S - squeeze the lever downward and hold the bottle upright and place one hand under the handle and thumb on top of the lever

S - sweep in a quick side to side motion

Operation of Air Total Halon Fire Extinguisher

U - unlock safe guard
P - pull/remove seal wire

A - aim the nozzle at the base of the fire approx. 6 feet away from fire source

S - squeeze the lever downward and hold the bottle upright and place one hand under the handle and thumb on top of the lever

S - sweep in a quick side to side motion

How many UPKs are loaded and what is a UPK?

Universal Precaution Kit

How do you operate the ADT 406S ELT?

1. Unfasten the retaining velcro strap
2. Remove ELT from its bracket

3. Pull firmly to break the metallic straps

4. Antenna will deploy automatically

5. Take ELT upon evacuation

TERRAIN: switch to ON

WATER switch to on - it will automatically activate by water contact

6. The RED LED indicates that the ELT works

Operation of the Scott/Avox PBE

1. REMOVE the device from storage case
2. TEAR OFF red pull strip, and remove from plastic protective wrapper

3. PULL the actuation ring in the direction indicated

4. HOLD neck seal with thumbs

5. BEND forward from the waist. Insert chin in the hole, pull hood across face over head

6. CHECK neck seal for secure fit

7. BREATHE normally. Remove when airflow stops to avoid suffocation

What are the 4 major components of a PBE?

1. 15 minutes self contained, solid state oxygen supply source
2. Chemical scrubber for carbon dioxide and water vapor

3. Loose fitting hood with head harness and neck seal

4. Venturi pumping arrangement, powered by oxygen generator

What is an FAK?

For treatment of minor injuries that may occur inflight or during an emergency situation. Its contents include:

- Adhesive Bandaid

- Alcohol wipes

- Arm and leg splint

- Compress bandage

- Triangular bandage

- Mouth to mouth resuscitation device

- Paracetamol, loperamide, mefenamic acid

- Safety pin

- Tweezers

- Vinyl gloves

What is an EMK?

Emergency Medical Kit

Used only for emergency cases and in such instances where a physician or medical practitioner is required to treat the passenger in flight
