An organized way for scientists to gather and pursue scientific knowledge.
What are the three main components of the scientific method?
hypothesizing,observation,and experimenting
What is falsifiability?
A false hypothesis
What is a dependent variable?
A factor that is observed to determined the results of the experiment
What is a independant variable?
is a factor you change to test your hypothesis
What is a controlled variable?
any variable in an experiment other than the independent and dependant
What is an experimental group?
A group on which a experiment is preformed
What is a control group?
A group where the independant variable is absent
What is logic?
The study of reasoning
What is inference?
A conclusion based on reasoning from evidence
What is deductive reasoning?
Is a reasoning from evidence to a more specific conclusion
What is a proposition?
A statement of fact
What is a hypothetical proposition?
Is an if/then statement of fact with two parts
What is affirming the antecedent?
A form of deductive inference in which the consequent of a hypothetical proposition must be true because the known antecedent is known to be true
What is denying the consequent?
A form of deductive inference in which the antecedent of a hypothetical proposition must be false because the consequent is known to be false
What is inductive reasoning?
reasoning from specific evidence to a more general conclusion
What is repeatability?
it means you repeat the experiment multiple times keeping all factors as similar as possible
What is reproducibility?
it means that others will reach the same conclusion by preformingother experiments that test the same hypothisis

material primarily derived from living organisms
What are mineral materials?
material primarily derived from nonliving matter
