operate front & back brakes, state "check for any excessive travel, unusual play or sponginess"
how would you check tyres are constantly inflated, have good tread depth and that general condition is safe for road
correct tyre pressure can be found in owners manual, and should be checked using a reliable & accuarte gauge. tread depth must be a min 1mm around full circumference of the tyre and across central 3/4 of the width. no lumps tears or obvious defects
where would you check the engine oil level and how do you know its sufficient
point to engine oil level dipstick. bike must be upright NOt on side stand. for dipstick: remove, wipe clean and return, then remove and check against min/max marks. sight glass: check clean glass, check against min/max marks. top up with recommended grade if needed
how would you check condition of of chain on bike
check chain for correct tension & correct rear wheel alignment. tension should be adjusted as per manual. chain should be checked regularly & lubricated when needed to minimise wear
how would you switch on full beam
turn on ignition / engine, check with BLUE warning light
what advice would you give to pillon passenger
approproate clothing & helmet. get on/off only when told to do so. sit correctly, facing forward, feet on footrests. tell them where to hold on. dont fidget & relax. no arm signals & dont look over drivers shoulder. lean into rider & bike on corners.
what would you change on bike for pillon passenger
adjust suspension & increase tyre pressure as per manual. adjust headlights to compensate for extra weight. fold down rear footpegs & readjust mirrors if suspension compressed
how will extra weight affect handling
centre of gravity different so slow down for corners, acceleration is different as front could become light & steering can feel different, slowing down may take longer & stopping distance increase due to weight
what would affect your balance
strong wind, drink or drug driving, carrying passenger or luggage, poor maintenance of bike, bad roads & surfaces
