Perfusion refers to the flow of blood through arteries and capillaries delivering nutrients and oxygen to cells
Impaired perfusion (can happen to anyone during their lifetime) can potentially occur among all individuals, regardless of age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status. The populations at greatest are:
Older adults
Low-income/low-education level individuals (this relates back to social determinants of health)
Primary prevention (can we prevent it from happening in the first place?)
Smoking and nicotine cessation
Diet
Exercise
Weight control
Secondary prevention (screening) (can we catch it early?)
Blood pressure screening
cardiac output (amount of blood ejected from left ventricle)
