Most ppl still hoped to convince the king and parliament that the colonies were loyal to the British Empire. The Colonists merely wanted to be given the rights of Englishmen. Although the congress was not hopeful and continued preparing for war, the delegates sent a petition conveying their desire for peace.

How did Thomas Paine influence American activity?

He authorized Common sense. He gave what he thought were common sense reasons for American separation from Britain. This pamphlet, more than any other document, turned the colonists toward independence. Within 6 months of the documents's publication, the colonies declared independance

What were the provisions of the treaty that ended the war for Independence?

It formally granted the USA its independence and gave the new nation all lands east of the Mississippi. It also set the northern boundary from the great lakes to lake of the woods of minnesota
