What are specialised cells?
They are cells that chamge their size, shape, and internal structures to carry out specific functions in organisims
What are the three basic types of plant specialised cells?
-Root hair cell
-Phloem
-Xylem
What are the three basic animal specialised cells?
-Sperm cell
-Nerve cell
-Muscle cell
What is the function of the xylem?
To transport water around the plant
What is the function of the phloem?
To transport sugars and amino acids around the plant
What is the function of the root hair cell?
Absorbs water and mineral ions from the soil
What adaptations do root hair cells have and why?
-No chloroplast (cant do photosythesis in soil)
-Elongated shape ( more efficient for absorbing water and mineral ions from water)
