causality

the relationship between cause and effect, the idea that everything has a cause.

Middle Ages

• from the 5th to the 15th centuries in Europe.
• Collapse of the Roman Empire to the Renaissance

• Byzantine empire, rise of Islam, Crusades

• Black Death

• Lack of gaining scientific knowledge. Also called the Dark Ages.

Reformation

• Started by Martin Luther in 1517
• People revolted against the Catholic Church because of indulgences

• Christianity started to spread far and wide.

Feudal System

• Unique to Europe and Feudal Japan
• System where king rules over lords, who rules over landowners, who

rule over serfs.

Democracy

• First appeared in Ancient Greece.
• System of government where everyone gets a say/vote.

• Period of Ancient Rome ruled by the Emperors
• From 27BC to 480AD

• Augustus was the first emperor.

• Emperor of Rome
• Constantine the Great

• First Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity.
