• 1. Jesus was suspected of ‘demonic possession’ – He expelled demons, forgave sins, healed the sick on the Sabbath, and befriended tax collectors and sinners.
• 2. He was accused of blasphemy [He “called god his own father, making himself equal to god”
• 3. There was confusion over his claim, “I have not come to abolish the Law or the prophet, but to fulfill them”
• 4. He taught with “authority” and challenged a merely external observance of the law and focused instead upon the “heart”
