1. Add a few drops of concentrated sulphuric acid to a boiling tube using a pipette
2. At 1cm³ of ethanoic acid ans 1cm³ of ethanol
3. Place the boiling tube in a beaker of hot water heated by Bunsen Burner to approximately 80°c
4. Leave on the heat for 5 minutes and then let cool
5. Pour into a beaka half filled with 0.5 mol/dm³ sodium carbonate solution
6.A layer of Ester should form on the surface of the cold sodium carbonate solution
7. Smell by wafting across the top of the boiling tube
