low or bas-belief

it is a type of relief in which image does not project above the surface or plane the sculptor carves the image into the field rather than cutting or carving the surrounding area

sunken relief

this is almost exactly the same with the sunken type some works will tend to it are cameo, intaglio and engraved gem.
