vital signs
postion the resdients seated/reclining. locate the residents radial pulse by placing tips of fingers on the thumb side of the residents wrist
count radial pulse for 30 seconds then mutiply it by two
criditcal step
record radial pulse recorded pulse must be within 4 resporarations of that obtained by the evaluator
counts respirations by 30 seconds and multiply by 2
record respirations must be within 4 respirations of that obtained by the evulator
locate the resdients brachial artery at the inner aspect of elbow with fingertips
line cuff arrows up with the resident brachial artery apply it atleast one inch about the elbow
clean the earpieces and diagram with wipes
place the stethoscope diaphragm ove the brachial artery hold the stethoscope diaphragm snugly in place inflate the cuff
slowly release air from cuff noting
systolic and diastolic reading the first number is the systolic number diastolic is when you no longer hear a beat
a normal systolic blood pressure is
less than 120
a normal diastolic is less than
80

record blood pressure must be within 4 mm systolic and 4mm diastolic above or blow the bp
critical step
leave the the resodemt in a position of comfort and safety place call light within reach
perform hand hygiene report and record
